Backlash Compensation

Due to physical distance between the gears within the tilt motor, there will be a plateau when the Tilt axis changes direction at the beginning of a move. The system can compensate for this by setting “Backlash Compensation” in the Settings menu. A setting of 5 is a good baseline value. Check out the video below for more information.

Terminology

Plateau - Equal to the Backlash distance and results in no physical Tilt movement when changing Tilt direction on a keyframe. Backlash Compensation removes this at start/reverse.

Backlash - Physical distance between the teeth within the Tilt motor gearbox when changing direction.

Backlash Compensation - Distance that Firmware rotates the Tilt motor when beginning a move or reversing direction on a looped move.
